Thermal Labels Product Descriptions

Thermal transfer labels
Thermal transfer labels use a thermal ribbon. A thermal printhead heats and melts the reverse side of the ribbon, causing material to melt and transfer to the label surface. These labels create permanent variable images that will not fade and are ideal for product ID, lab specimens, outdoor storage and more.

Direct thermal labels
Direct thermal labels do not use ink, toner or a ribbon. Instead thermal printheads make direct contact with a heat-sensitive label material to create a black image. These labels are less expensive but have a shorter life span as the image will fade with time and light exposure. Direct thermal labels are ideal for shipping labels, pharmaceuticals, retail receipts, and event tickets.
